Astier Nicolas

Astier Nicolas is a French rider based in England. After riding for France on 6 Youth European Championship Teams, winning 2 team bronze medals and an individual silver, he decided to leave for England and start a profesionnal carreer.

In 2011, he tackled 4* level successfully while preparing the future with younger horses. The 2012 season has been rewarded by being long listed for the 2012 London Olympic Games, unfortunately his top horse got injured so no OG in 2012. Nevertheless, the rest of the season went really well with an under 25 Champion title at Bramham CCI***, a bronze medal in the Open French championships with his second string and a 6th place at Pau CCI**** aboard Jhakti, his top horse coming back from his injury.

In 2013, it is time for the long waited first Badminton, and that is a top ten ! He finishes on his dressage score riding Piaf, his second horse competing at his first 4*. Quicky, 9 year old, went to Bramham trying to defend the title obtained by her stable mate the year before and they got a podium this year again !

The next challenges are the 2014 WEG in Normandy for which Astier already has 2 horses qualified, and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games with the up and coming horse: Spes Addit’Or which was bronze medallist at the 6 year old Championship and finished 6th at the World championship for young horses at le Lion d’Angers in 2013.

These performances put Astier in 8th position in the FEI HSBC Rankings, and he will do his best to get closer from the rank 1 by being competitive on the world class stage and claiming wins. This means to build up the gaps in his string. This is the challenge he intends to share with motivated partners. Together we can live a great adventure!
